First of all I would like to apologise for the unusual emails that were sent from my account a virus got into it and it took until today before I was fully up and running.

  • There will be a fixtures meeting in the Mallow Gaa complex on Tuesday the 27th at 7.45 and a CCC at 7.15. It is imperative that all Clubs are present and all fixtures are agreed before the meeting. Once ratified they will not be changed, the date given is the last day the fixture can be played.
  • Championship draws will be held at this meeting.

  • Any views expressed by the Delegates present at the meetings will supercede other correspondence from the Clubs. NB. no changes to ratified fixtures even if there is an agreement. Fixtures sent out before the meeting are proposed fixtures only, any agreed fixtures to be sent to the Secretary at least 24 hours before the meeting.
  • All Teams participating in B2 competitions must send me a copy of their panel of 18 before they play their second game. There will be severe penalties for any clubs playing players not on the panel sent into me. Any club who hasn’t sent their panels to me on time will have each game forfeited until I get it.
  • A fair play rule is in operation in all league North Cork fixtures but does not include semi-finals, finals or any Championship game. Where a club is struggling to field a team for a league game the game may proceed by playing 2 less than officially stated (A and B1 is 15 aside and B2 is 13 aside). All Clubs are expected to follow this policy.
  • Fines for any game conceded is €50 payable by the following meeting.
  • Any club owing money from last year please pay at this meeting.
  • Referees; There is a shortage in referees this year. Every club is being asked to provide a referee. The fee for refereeing a match has being risen to €40 per game which makes it well worth doing. The fee per match per club for the referee’s is €20 and €25 per club who do not provide a referee.
  • Referee; We are looking for people with a good Knowledge of our games and are a minimum age of 17. Full training will be provided and a Jersey will be provided. Please forward all names to me so I can organise the training.
  • Due to the number of squad days all league games will have to go ahead without squad players if they

are not available. 3 days grace is given for Championships

BENCHMARKING 2020 VISION WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarking 2020 Vision winners have been announced.

Winners are divided in to 3 categories with the top clubs receiving the “Gold” accolade and the silver and bronze being awarded based on criteria set out at the start of each year.

The criteria is designed to point clubs in the direction of coaching and games best practice to help them improve playing standards and increase participation at player and mentor level.

2017 has seen the highest ever number of applications with 106 clubs applying for accreditation.

Games Manager, Kevin O Callaghan says “it shows the great work going on in our clubs throughout the county and all our club Coaching Officers deserve huge credit for the effort they put in to steering their clubs to achieve accreditation. Our GDA’s also deserve immense credit for the work they do in supporting the clubs and  Coaching Officers throughout the county. I would like to congratulate all clubs on their accreditation and would encourage clubs to strive towards achieving the Gold standard by 2020 or before it.”

Clubs who have been successful are invited to attend a workshop on Saturday next February 24th in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. The clubs will receive their awards on the day and the club coaches will be treated to 3 workshops. Jason Ryan (football), Kieran Kingston (hurling) and Dr Ed Coughlan (Skills acquisition) will work with coaches and demonstrate models of best practice that coaches can take back to their own club players for the year ahead.

Details of the winners are below.

Junior Referee’s course in Rebel Og North

Well done to Rebel Og Coaching who tonight organised a very successful training evening for new referees in Rebel Og North.

On the night 40 new referees attended the programme.

Over the last number of weeks, GDAs Pat Sprat and Colm Crowley have been working on developing a young referee’s programme that allows new referee’s to take control of U11 league games.

The referee is then able to gain some vital experience that will stand to them as they progress up the ranks.

The event took place in Mallow GAA complex with some great speakers in attendance. Lead by Games Manager Kevin O’Callaghan.

Experienced referees Justin Murphy and Ciaran O’Regan were on hand to deliver the course.

Other young referee programmes will take place in the coming weeks.

Rebel Og Central have announced details of their first board meeting for 2018.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday night next, 7th of February at 8pm in Nemo Rangers club house in Trabeg. All clubs who will be playing in Rebel Og Central should attend this meeting

With over fourteen thousand games being played in our county on an annual basis, the role of the referee is central in ensuring that all games take place. This year a Basic Club Referee Foundation Level 1 Training Course for new referees is planned for Pairc Ui Rinn over three nights in early March. The Course is developed in conjunction with Croke Park and conducted by trained Referee Instructors.

Dates for the Training Coarse are as follows

Foundation Level 1 Course FOR NEW REFEREES
Thursday 1st March 2018 @7.30pm
Thursday 8th March 2018 @7.30pm

Modules are “classroom” based and involve attendance and participation on all three nights by the prospective referees.

Applications from interested individuals who are considering taking up the role as club referee can be submitted to refereesadministrator.cork@gaa.ie or Colm Lyons, Cork County Referees Recruitment Officer colm.lyons.referee@gaa.ie
