Eire Og are Premier 1 Minor football champions


On Sunday evening as the flood lights were just about to be turned off in Carrigaline GAA complex, Eire Og’s captain James O’Sullivan walked off the field with the Donie O’Donovan trophy in hand following their one point win over Douglas.


In what was Eire Og’s first appearance  in a Premier 1 Minor Football Final, both teams were up for a battle against a Douglas side who were in their fifth final.

Douglas come back was on when they ‘goaled’ on  42nd minute of the game when Conor Russell raised the green flag.Before Douglas new, they were nine points down as Eire Og went 11 to 2 up.

Both teams battled hard as the game went on until Eire Og’s Dylan Foley scored a goal to put the mid-Cork team seven points up.

The last 14 minutes were going to be a battle as both teams wanted the chance to lift the Premier 1 title.

Douglas battled hard as they converted points as they tried to break down Eire Og’s lead.

However, this day belong to Eire Og who held out to win the game by a point.
