There was a very strong turnout for the information night held in Eire Óg GAA Club in Ovens.
Kevin O’Callaghan & Ronan Dwane kicked off proceedings and discussed a number of different topics around clubs availing of the coaching service from the County Board? Were they utilizing the services of the GDA for their schools and clubs, coaching workshops were a few of the items discussed
Des Cullinane Child Welfare Officer of the Co. Board was up next. He discussed the responsibility of Clubs and Club officers to be compliant in the protection of our underage members, with a philosophy that recognises the welfare of the child is paramount .It is the responsibility of the club to have all personnel involved with their underage members be Garda Vetted and have received relevant child welfare and sports related training, to enable them fulfil such roles
.
Brian Coniry of the South East Referees gave a very frank and honest talk about refereeing with particular emphasis around Give Respect Get Respect and received a round of applause. A Q&A was held afterwards with a lot of questions from the floor.
To finish off the evening Chairman Coiste Na nÓg John Purcell thanked everyone in attendance and spoke a few words about upcoming Féile and where to get information for clubs and their host families.
The large number of those in attendance availed of the Teas, coffees and lovely refreshments afterwards and spoke with the guest speakers. Overall a very informative night.

The County Féile na nÓg (U14 football) will be run off to the following schedule;
PLAYING RULES FOR FÉILE NA nÓG (U14 Football)
Normal Playing Rules to apply.
Panel of 24 to be submitted to referee at the commencement of the competition. Clubs may not alter this panel at any stage during the Group stages. Unlimited substitutions to apply from the 24 listed.
All Group Games to be 15 minutes aside. (Except where outlined where they will be 12 minutes a side).
Premier U14 teams play in Premier Grade, Division 1 teams play in the “A” grade while teams playing Division 2 or lower play in the “B” grade.
Teams in Premier and ‘A’’ are 15 a side. Teams in ‘B’ are 13 a side. However, the teams that qualify from the “B” grade will have to play 15 a side in the National Competition run over the weekend 28th-30th June.
Clubs are requested to check with opponents in advance of the competition, should a clash of Colours occur. In accordance with TO Cumann Luth Chleas Gael, both clubs change, unless by agreement
At the conclusion of Group Stages:
In the event of teams finishing level on points, the team with the lowest overall score conceded will be determined the Group winner.
In the event of teams having identical scores conceded, then the side that scored the most overall points will qualify. In the event of scores still being deadlocked, the winner will be determined by the result of the game between the teams.
Arrangements for Group Finals (where applicable) to be listed with Fixtures. Games in these Final will be 15 minutes a side.
In the event of game(s) ending in a draw, extra time of 5 minutes a side will be played.
Should sides be level at end of extra time, Referee will restart game with the first side to score being declared the winner.
SEMI FINALS / FINALS
The semi-finals and final of the Premier competition will take place on Sunday evening 7th April with the A and B Finals scheduled for Monday 22nd April. Details of venues etc., to be notified.
Games in the Semi-Finals and Final will be 15 minutes a side.
In the event of game(s) ending in a draw, extra time of 5 minutes a side will be played.

THE Mid-South Region will hold their next meeting on Monday, February 25, at 7.30pm in Ovens.
The East Region will hold their next meeting on Monday, March 4, at 7.30pm at Midleton GAA Club.

As you are aware, 13 a-side competitions are for teams/clubs that are struggling to field 15 a-side teams and Regulations are drafted to help protect the clubs that may be struggling for numbers. It has been evident in recent years that some clubs are using more than the required 18 in a panel and may well have been able to field in 15 a side.
Please find below the regulations and procedures that are being adopted across all regions for 2019 and your co-operation is requested in this matter.
1.14. Any club wishing to field a team in 13 a-side competitions must submit a list of players which may only contain a maximum of 18 players prior to the commencement of the relevant competition.
13. 13 a-side hurling/football
Clubs playing in these 13 a-side games are advised that they must not go outside the panel of players submitted. Any club found guilty of breach of this regulation shall forfeit any game won with teams fielding any players not listed in their application. A club fine will also be considered.
As you are aware, 13 a-side competitions are for teams/clubs that are struggling to field 15 a-side teams and the above Regulations are drafted to help protect the clubs that may be struggling for numbers. Your co-operation is requested to ensure this happens.
