U13 Football Competition 2018

The first round is a blitz competition ( see guidelines and timetable below) whereas the second round is a straight game with 20 minutes a side.

A player in possession of the Ball is entitled to 1 hop, 1 hand to toe but he must then release the ball and not play it again until another player plays it. The player taking the kick-out may have the option of kicking the ball from the hands and may not play it again until another player plays it.

Where there are 3 teams at a venue, games are 15 minutes a half. Where there are 4 teams, games are 12 minutes a half. Teams are 13 a side with unlimited substitution.  Games are played on the shortened pitch (20m to 20m).

Each club is required to bring a young referee preferably (or older if necessary) to this venue to referee some games. The objective is to introduce new referees and clubs should be particularly aware of their obligation for the mentors/supporters not to abuse these referees. Feedback from the hurling competitions said it was hugely positive by and large to use younger referees. Once again we ask clubs to bring a young/new referee with them. Again clubs are asked to be positive and encouraging towards these referees.

Referees are allocated to games as follows;

3 team competition

Round 1 @ 11am 1 v. 2 Ref from team C.  Referee from Club 1 referees  2v.3 and referee from Club 2 referees 1v.3.

4 team groups need two pitches

11am ;  1v.2 ( Ref Club 3)     3 v. 4 ( Ref Club 2)

11.45;  1 v.3 ( Ref Club 4)     2 v. 4 ( Ref Club 1)

12.30;  1v.4 ( Ref Club 3 )    2 v. 3 ( Ref Club 1)

Clubs should be particularly aware of their obligation for the mentors/supporters not to abuse these referees and co-ordinators are asked to impress on the clubs the importance of this prior to the games commencing. Coiste na nÓg reserves the right to exclude any club from further rounds of this competition whose behaviour towards referees from mentors/supporters is deemed unacceptable.

I would ask each host club to appoint a co-ordinator and make the necessary arrangements for the booking of pitches. If there is a difficulty with a venue etc. please contact me at secretarybng.cork@gaa.ie  as soon as possible.

At conclusion of Group Stages:

In the event of teams finishing level on points, the team with the lowest overall score conceded will be determined the Group winner.

In the event of teams having identical scores conceded, then the side that scored the most overall will qualify.  In the event of scores still being deadlocked, the winner will be determined by the result of the game between the teams.

The winner from each group will go forward to the next round on Saturday 21st  July.

I thank you for your co-operation and I hope it is a very enjoyable morning for all.
