Rebel Óg Coaching have just announced details of a football skills competition for underage club players.
Aimed at U12, 13 and 14 age groups, the competition is designed to test players kicking abilities off both right and left feet. The test is simple to set up and each player gets 5 kicks from his left and right leg, 10 kicks in total.
All clubs are encouraged to set up the test and run it at their club grounds on or before September 27. The top 3 players from an age group are then put forward to a Divisional final to be held on or before October 11.
The county finals will take place among the 8 Divisional winners on the week ending October 25.
Co Op Superstores have come on board as sponsors of the event and we would encourage all members to support this organisation where possible.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT :
Clubs should organise a date between now and September 27 for all their U12, 13 and 14 players to compete in the skills test.
The top 3 players in each age group should then be nominated to go forward to the Divisional finals as a team to represent the club. This can be done by completing the form om the link below.
Rebel Óg will be streaming the Premier 2 minor hurling final tonight.

The Rebel Óg Premier 1 Minor Hurling final between Sarsfields and St Finbarr’s on Wednesday night could be one of the games of the season and Examiner Sport will be streaming the final live on their website.
Coverage from a floodlit Páirc Ui Rinn will begin at 6.45pm with Colm O’Connor joined on commentary by Seanie McGrath and The Echo’s Eamonn Murphy, who has tracked the minor grade assiduously since the opening round. Our coverage is in association with Rebel Óg, the underage arm of Cork GAA.
Sars and the Barrs go head to head, having come through the revamped round-robin system unbeaten, before semi-finals wins over Ballincollig and Glen Rovers respectively.
There is serious hurling talent in both panels, while Cork U20 manager Pat Ryan is in charge of Sars, with Rebel icon Jimmy Barry-Murphy involved with Brian Hurley’s backroom team.
